He came back on this day,
In a heap of sorrow and dread,
To find nothing but structure crumbling away
And a body laid perfectly still.
His words were raucously screamed
In the back of his muddled brain
But were never, in that time, uncaged or released,
So he collapsed to the ground in a wrath.
He placed his bloodied cheek on her chest,
On the one whom he used to call "Mom"
And breathed in her marvelous scent, reimbursed
As a movie played back in his mind.
And he let the tears fall again,
Down, down, down, until they dried up.
He cried no more, but instead, in the end,
Let cold dismay take him away.
He came back all this way,
In a heap of sorrow and dread,
To find nothing but liveliness shattered astray
And a body laid perfectly still.

Dan reached up to trace his index finger along Phil's bottom lip, parting them as his hot breath brushed Dan's forehead.
Dan felt his lips move under his fingertips as Phil murmured groggily, "What are you doing Dan?"
"Nothing," came his soft reply and he reached up in the other's embrace to kiss him,

You were spending the night at Dan and Phil’s apartment, having had dinner with them to celebrate your birthday aside from meeting with your family. Coincidentally, they were your only local friends.
